Aditya Birla Sun Life India Gennext Fund is an open-ended equity scheme following Consumption theme.

Investment Objective

The objective of the scheme is to target growth of capital by investing in equity/ equity related instruments of companies that are expected to benefit from the rising consumption patterns in India, which in turn is getting fuelled by high disposable incomes of the young generation (Generation Next). The scheme will invest in companies that have the following characteristics: 1. Companies that seek growth in revenues arising out of demand from the younger generation (GenNext) for their products or services. 2. They should be engaged in manufacturing of products or rendering of services that go directly to the consumer. 3. The products and services should have distinct brand identity, thereby enabling choice

Fund discipline

- The Scheme aims to allocate a minimum of 80% (up to 100%) of its net assets to equity and equity related instruments, following the consumption theme.

- The scheme can also allocate up to 20% of its net assets into fixed income securities (including money market instruments)

- It seeks out such companies that are in products or services, which cater to the young consumers (at least 50% of the sales/revenue direct to consumer), or companies that have distinct brand identities and therefore enable choice.

- Companies are from across consumption driven sectors

- The scheme will also select stocks by evaluating certain criteria such as trustworthy management, stability of business, prospects for future growth and market valuations. It follows a bottom-up stock picking approach.

Tax Applicability

Investment held for less than 12 months


Short Term Capital Gain Tax would be applicable. Any gains/profits would be taxed at 15% (plus applicable surcharge and cess).

Investment held for more than 12 months


Long Term Capital Gain Tax would be applicable. Gains/profits in excess of Rs. 1 lakh would be taxed at 10% without indexation (plus applicable surcharge and cess).

Any income received under this option would be considered as income for the investors and hence would be taxed at applicable tax slab rates.
